A key part of the mission of CWS in the US is providing people seeking asylum with the information they need to obtain critical services. As part of this effort, CWS has operated the National Call Center for the past 5 years, answering more than 17,000 callers, representing more than 70 nationalities. However, given unprecedented complications surrounding access to asylum and an ever-changing policy landscape, this model is not sustainable for providing accurate, up-to-date information to asylum seekers. As a result, the National Call Center closed May 10, 2024.
CWS remains committed to supporting asylum seekers with critical information as they navigate their path in the United States. The CWS Asylum and Border team is currently leading a process to determine the most sustainable and effective models of reaching the largest possible audience. In the meantime, the call center phone line will remain active for the short term. While CWS staff will not actively monitor the call line after May 10th, callers will have access to recorded messages in English, Spanish, and Haitian Kreyol to provide basic information about the Asylum Application, EADs, Change of address forms and ICE Check In information. We will keep you apprised of developments as we identify sustainable and scalable models of informing asylum seekers.
